Man Utd Transfers: Sir Alex Ferguson's 5 Best And Worst Signings

4. Kleberson - Signed from Atletico Paranaense in 2003 for £6.5 Million

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKGpcCP1060 Kleberson actually played pretty good in 2002 World Cup, where his Brazil side beat Germany 2-0 in the final of the tournament held in South Korea and Japan. In the same window Sir Alex ushered in Kleberson, alongside Eric Djemba-Djemba and Cristiano Ronaldo, in the hope of forming a new midfield bedrock for Manchester United. Unfortunately, much like Djemba-Djemba; Kleberson proved to be a flop, but a little more costly at £6.5 million; appearing in only twenty appearances in two injury blighted seasons. It wasn€™t just Manchester United interested in the Brazilian, as Brazil coach Scolari declared Kleberson as the driving force behind Brazil€™s World Cup winning campaign, several English and Scottish clubs, such as Leeds United, Newcastle United and Celtic all displayed their interest in Kleberson. Manchester United won the race to sign Kleberson, as a replacement for Veron; being injured in his second game and went on to be known as one of the worst purchases Sir Alex has ever made.
