Man Utd Transfers: Sir Alex Ferguson's 5 Best And Worst Signings

5. Eric Djemba-Djemba - Signed from Nantes in 2003 for £3.5 Million

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aefvaddanu0 Roy Keane has already been mentioned as one of the greatest signings Sir Alex has ever made, Eric Djemba-Djemba was brought in by Sir Alex to take over from the midfield enforcer Keane. I think we all know how this one ended up, the unknown Cameroonian failed to make any impact whatsoever during his tenure as a Manchester United player. Actually, he did make some kind of impact, literally leaving an impression with a rambunctious challenge on Sol Campbell in the Community Shield against Arsenal, to which Arsene Wenger described it as an obscene challenge. He possessed the ultra-aggressive style, but he only displayed it once, and never showed it again. He found it difficult to sustain any form and was never going to be a worthy replacement for Roy Keane; failing to rise to the occasion in any big game and the fact that Manchester United were in a period of transition did not help his cause either. After two years Sir Alex finally had enough and was shipped out to Aston Villa; where Manchester United suffered a £2 million loss. Since then he has played in Denmark and Qatar and has also been declared bankrupt. Most definitely one of the worst signings Sir Alex Ferguson has ever made during his 26 year spell at Manchester United.
