Newcastle: 10 Things Pardew Should Be Applauded For

5. His Record Against Chelsea

This season€™s victory at home to Chelsea was particularly sweet €“ and if there's one thing worth applauding Alan Pardew for, then it should be that he managed to wipe the smug grin off of Jose Mourinho€™s face (at least for this season), and pop the increasingly obnoxious bubble of the €˜new invincibles€™ that was being blown around Stamford Bridge. In fact, that game summed up most of Pardew€™s reign (most of NUFC€™s history, when it comes to it): moments of brilliance, moments of defiance, catastrophe (having to sub on a rookie goalie, who has since proved that he is far from able to do the job that was asked of him, Steven Taylor€™s needless red card), and then anxious holding on that isn€™t even really fun to endure, followed by a reaffirmation of the reason the Toon Army can€™t help but love the club in the end. Then there was Cisse€™s double at the Bridge. Beautiful. Applause due.
