Newcastle: 10 Things Pardew Should Be Applauded For

4. He Put Up With Mike Ashley€™s Restrictions

Most of the blame for Newcastle€™s recent failings shouldn€™t be exclusively laid at Pardew€™s door. The big man upstairs (emphasis on the €˜big€™) has to shoulder a lot of the blame for the restrictive conditions under which Pardew was working, and under which the fans continue to suffer. It€™s pretty clear that transfers, at least those leaving the club, weren€™t decided by Pardew at all, and he was made to look a fool by the way the Andy Carroll sale was handled. A less determined man might have spat his dummy and walked, but Pardew stuck at it, and made the best of what was often a pretty bad job (old clichés about the job being a poisoned chalice have at least a grain of truth in them).
