5. Adam Campbell
Despite only being 17 there is already a large level of hype surrounding Adam Campbell with the Newcastle-born striker being compared to Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen (Newcastle fans will hope hes more the former than the latter). He hit a stunning first-half hat-trick in the first game of the U-21 league against Tottenham and shortly thereafter made his competitive debut against Atromotis FC. His substitute appearance made him the youngest ever Newcastle player in European competition and he looked sharp, full of energy and certainly of a different dynamic to Newcastles other strikers (none of which possess exceptional pace). He may yet get more minutes in European competition as Campbell has replaced Papiss Cisse in the squad, who pulled out due to illness. Former Entertainer Les Ferdiand was impressed by Campbells performance saying I spoke to Peter (Beardsley) about him at the end and we talked about what a prospect he is... We talked about what a good attitude he had. If he continues the way he is going he will only get better. Campbell is a product of the famous Wallsend Boys Club which produced players such as Peter Beardsley, Michael Carrick and, of course, Alan Shearer. With it looking likely that Senegal will fail to qualify for the ACoN, Campbell may well find first team opportunities hard to come by but its important to remember that hes only 17 and a year spent in the U-21 league (perhaps forming a little-and-large strike partnership with Sammy Ameobi) should do the youngster a world of good. http://youtu.be/iOctW0gNrAY
