Newcastle United's Worst-Ever Premier League XI

14. SUB 3 - Jean-Alain Boumsong

Newcastle United: 2005-06

Nationality: French

Position: Centre-Back

Cost: £8 million (Signed from Rangers)

Premier League Appearances: 47

Premier League Goals: 0

Signed by Graeme Souness for £8 million from Rangers in January 2005 - despite having been available for a free transfer the summer before - Boumsong was hopeless. Paired alongside Titus Bramble in the centre of Newcastle's defence, this was a duo that had "disaster" written all over it from the beginning.

Forced to wear specially-designed boots with extra studs in them due to the fact he simply could not stay on his feet, Boumsong somehow went on to play for the likes of Juventus, Lyon and Panathinaikos - yet he was woeful on Tyneside.
