Next Newcastle Manager: 10 Favourites To Replace Alan Pardew
10. Malky MacKay (25-1)
Status: Unemployed (and shamed) North of the border product Malky MacKay would have been Crystal Palace manager right now had the text message scandal stemming from his time as Cardiff City boss not purposefully leaked to the media at the 11th hour of his appointment. We wouldn't like to repeat the terrible scandal here but needless to say it severely damaged Mackay's reputation and it would be extremely difficult for him to walk into a top job (or any significant English based job) for the considerable future. For that reason alone McKay must simply be seen as a complete rank outsider and his 25-1 (10th favourite) status looks particularly generous to him. Although there's in reality no chance of it happening... SHOULD the impossible happen and he was offered the Magpies job he would deliver much what he did at Cardiff, a combative side that could play above their strengths in big matches and frequently relied on the atmosphere the home fans could create to push his players to victory, something the St. James' Park atmosphere has badly been lacking on a consistent basis since the days of Sir. Bobby Robson. But it's all pie in the sky as he's not going to get the job as he needs much more time away on footballing probation to relinquish his sins.
