1. SS Shamarko Thomas Syracuse
Shamarko Thomas is a very rare prospect coming out of SU. He is one of those guys who is reckless with his body and is not afraid to take on a hit , while being a solid tackler. What intrigues me about Thomas is his frame and speed. He is on the short end measuring out a 5'9 at the combine, but most of the top tier safeties in the league are under 6'0. He weighed in at 213 lbs. of rock solid muscle. He topped off at every position at the combine including a 4.4 forty. Since he has the mentality of a linebacker, he helps in run support and will stops the runner in his tracks. He is a good coverage safety and even played some cornerback at the nickle position. From the way he plays and his frame he really reminds me of Bob Sanders (minus Sanders durability issues). Thomas is an all-around good safety that is short, but makes up for it with his speed, strength, and relentlessness.
