1. James McCarthy
It's a well known fact that Everton don't have much financial room to manoeuvre in the transfer market. Apparently, before he began being pelted with fruit at Manchester United, David Moyes was respected for his ability to bring the blue half of Merseyside continued success on a budget. The truth is that Everton simply can't compete with other more financially flush clubs. Why do I say this? Because if Newcastle decide to enter the race for Wigan's Irish midfielder
James McCarthy, I'm willing to bet money (I know, the irony) that Newcastle could financially blow them out of the water in the negotiations. Newcastle are hardly known for being frugal in the transfer market, and a defensively-minded player such as McCarthy would definitely be worth reliving the glory days of chucking about silly money. Really, with Cheick Tiote falling stupendously short of the heights he set during the 2011/12 campaign and Vurnon Anita proving unconvincing in his debut season, installing a third option in the centre of midfield is a must for Pardew, and bringing in proven Premier League talent might just save what's been a depressingly dull transfer window on the Tyne. So that's what I think. What do you think? Feel free to comment!
