4. Wayne Rooney
Current club: Manchester United Main contender: Chelsea Since
signing for Manchester United in 2004, Wayne Rooney has announced himself as a big star in both club and international football. He has been a consistent performer for a number of seasons, however during the 2012/2013 season in particular he often found himself sidelined due to the excellent performances of Robin van Persie. This has caused great frustration for Wayne and reignited the opinions he had in 2010 that a move might do him good. Despite being reunited with David Moyes, the manager who gave him his big chance in the Premier League, it appears that Rooney is
ready to submit a transfer request with a view to leaving United. Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have expressed a great interest in the striker and are believed to have had a second bid,
in the region of £25M, rejected by United. Although United appear keen to keep Rooney at the club, it would not surprise me if Chelsea secured their man before deadline day to bolster their attack.
