This may be a lot higher than people expected. Moyes has had a start which has brought him a lot of criticism and at first, he certainly seemed out of his depth. The desperate attempt to try and land Fabregas is a far cry from the negotiations that Ferguson and Gill operated. Moyes seems to have the backing of the dressing room though and will have won most fans over after beating Arsenal. The defence could be seen as their weakness, it hasn't been confirmed how long Vidic will be out for after his collision at the weekend but once he went off, United struggled to look confident at the back. There was a lot of near-misses that were down to poor marking that is usually controlled by the Serbian, and with Vidic having previous injury problems you never know if he will be hit with another long-term problem. Ferdinand is also a great player but with his back problem, Moyes has to be careful with how much he plays which means that it will be hard to cement a centre-back pairing that Manchester United are famous for having. That said, they do have tremendous depth in Smalling, Jones, Rafael all being strong defenders. The central midfield problem has been one that has been brought up regarding Old Trafford for a couple of years now about replacing Paul Scholes. It's hard to identify whether there is a problem, ideally they would have a holding player and one that can come forward. Michael Carrick has been solid for Manchester United in the holding role and is a consistently good player, failing that Moyes can use Phil Jones if Carrick is absent. That leaves a spot for the advanced midfielder. Fellaini has been a bit of a disappointment since joining United and hasn't looked comfortable in the playing style. Giggs can play in the centre but not all season, it's also not his preferred position. However, Kagawa playing on the left with Rooney upfront kind of solves the lack of playmaking in the centre. In the second half, it was noticeable that Rooney started to drift towards the left and Kagawa came into the middle more, meaning that the left had cover and Kagawa had space just behind the lone striker to create chances. This method means that United flood the middle and more chances are created, Rooney also has the fitness to switch between these positions. Another reason for a high finish for The Red Devils is Wayne Rooney. Rooney was unsettled last season and his form suffered but Moyes seems to have got him back on track and is apparently relishing partnering Van Persie. Manchester United comfortably won the league last season with an out-of-form Rooney, just think how dangerous they will be now that both are on form and committed to the club.
