Wayne Rooney has been known for making a number of outbursts when things haven't been going his way, and infamously rounded on his own supporters during England's dismal draw with Algeria at the 2010 World Cup. Annoyed by the boos and jeers that rained down from the terraces on him and his teammates, the Manchester United striker complained: "Nice to see your own fans booing you, you football 'supporters'." Football fans pay hundreds of pounds to watch their clubs and the international team play and many paid even more than that to travel to South Africa for the World Cup finals in 2010, and have the right to expect more from their side and to voice their displeasure following such pitiful performances. And so it was wrong for Rooney to throw his toys out of his pram on this particular occasion. There have been other, more recent examples of Rooney getting in a strop when things aren't going according to plan. During the Sir Alex Ferguson administration he reportedly refused to play in the Scotsman's last ever game in charge and has twice attempted to leave the club. He moaned in 2010 that the Red Devils "lacked ambition" despite having won numerous trophies at Old Trafford and performed a 'u-turn' to stay at the club days later on a new deal with enhanced wages with some pointing out he was just angling for a bigger salary.
