Sir Alex Ferguson Retires: 4 Infamous Moments From His Illustrious Reign

2. Horse Play

Fergie's interests lie elsewhere than a footy pitch. His love of horse racing is well known, and he will probably have more time for it now he has decided to move on to pastures new. But in 2003 something unusual happened. Fergie sued then major shareholder John Magnier over stud rights of the horse Rock Of Gibralter. Magnier then counter-sued (the legal equivalent of I know you are, but what am I?) and bizarrely drew up a list of 99 questions he wanted Fergie to answer regarding some transfer dealings with the likes of Jaap "Stammy" Stam, Juan "Verony" Veron, Tim "Howardy" Howard and Cristiano "Ronaldoey" Ronaldo. The matter was settled out of court, meaning that a court stenographer never got a chance to type players and their nicknames at lightning speed. Which would have been hilarious.
