Southampton's 10 Best Premier League Victories Ever

2. Southampton 8-0 Sunderland - 18.10.2014

OK, it only happened a few weeks ago so it is hard to assess its long term impact, but it is pretty certain that Southampton's biggest Premier League win is likely to live long in the memory of the club's fans however this season ends. Southampton came into the season with the squad decimated by the departure of five key players, a change in management and many pundits predicting a return to relegation battles. Four early season wins had already gone some way to countering that argument, but it was this game that really went to show how little Southampton were missing the departed Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren. Without Lallana, new signing Dusan Tadic dominated the game with a goal and four assists, while two goals from Graziano Pelle showed why he's one of the Premier League's best new forwards. Of course, the game, which included three own goals, is equally likely to be remembered for the opener. Santiago Vergini's 12th minute strike into his own net was a finish that most forwards would be proud of and will be likely to be remembered as one of the great own goals. Saints have won every game since this historic victory, putting them second and four points clear of third place Man City. While they are likely to face trickier challenges next month, the Sunderland victory will put the team in a confident place to go forward. Southampton Starting XI: Forster, Clyne, Alderweireld, Fonte, Bertrand, Schneiderlin, Davis, Tadic, Cork, Long, Pelle
