Southampton's 10 Best Premier League Victories Ever

3. Norwich 4-5 Southampton - 09.04.1994

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfBSrz25ig4 Nine goal thrillers are unusual in the Premier League, there have only been 13 in the whole history of the competition, but Saints were involved in two within the space of two years. The 6-3 defeat of Man United may have generated more headlines, but this away victory over Norwich was more exciting and perhaps more important. Saints had struggled all through the 1993/94 season and were just a month away from relegation. Norwich, however, had been the real surprise package of the inaugural Premier League season the year before, finishing 3rd. This year they had travelled to Bayern Munich and won, knocking the latter out of the UEFA Cup, so Southampton shouldn't have posed them much of a challenge at Carrow Road. Norwich went into a 3-1 lead, with Southampton's only goal after 58 minutes a Robert Ullathorne own goal. However, Saints hit back with a Matthew Le Tissier hat trick that, with one answering goal from Chris Sutton, left the scores at 4 goals apiece going into the last minute. Ken Monkou's last minute winner not only gave Saints a thrilling victory, but quite probably kept them in the Premier League. Along with a victory against Blackburn the following week, Southampton ensured their survival by a mere one point margin.
