Spurs Best Overseas XI Of The Premier League Era
2. Striker: Jurgen Klinsmann
Spurs pulled off a real transfer coup when they signed German superstar striker Jurgen Klinsmann - thanks largely to then chairman Alan Sugar. Klinsmann actually had two spells with Spurs the second on loan and his goals in both spells were vital to the club.
In his first spell in the 1994-95 season, having signed from French giants Monaco, he scored on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday and memorably celebrated with a self-deprecating dive. He went on to score 20 league goals (29 in total for the season) and won the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year.
In his second spell in the 1997-98 season, he joined midway through the campaign on loan and his goals saved the club from relegation. He memorably scored four goals in one game in the 6-2 win at WimbledonSo popular was Klinsmann that over 150,000 Spurs shirts with his name on were sold - and it's easy to see why. He is definitely the greatest and most predatory striker the club has boasted in the Premier League era.
