Spurs Best Overseas XI Of The Premier League Era

10. Left Back: Christian Ziege

Having joined from Liverpool in 2001, German international full back Christian Ziege made 55 competitive appearances for Spurs - 47 of which came in the Premier League - during his 3 year stay. Ziege scored 10 goals for the club and, as a renowned dead-ball specialist, it's no surprise that several of them came from free-kicks. His most famous goal came in the 2002 League Cup final against Blackburn Rovers, but it wasn't enough to prevent Spurs losing 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers, and he scored an absolutely fantastic free-kick against Spur's North London rivals in 2002.

Ziege had become increasingly injury prone in his time at Spurs and gradually deteriorated in quality, but there is absolutely no doubt in the fact that he's the best overseas left back the club has had - in fact he's probably the best left back of the Premier League years, period.

Only Benoit Assou-Ekotto really rivals him for this position - and he's a long way down in quality from Ziege.
