10. Shakhtar Donetsk
Not normally renowned for bringing in star quality big enough to challenge the pulling power of the clubs in more Western Europe, the Ukranian league may be taking steps to become the new, breakthrough league everyone wants to go to, and champions Shakhtar Donetsk are leading the way in that respect. In total this summer, they have spent big on Brazilian stars of the Conferedations Cup Fred and Bernard for a combined
£35 million. In addition to fellow countrymen Wellington Nem and Fernando along with Argentinian forward Facundo Ferreyra. Now, I'm not saying that those are bad signings but they are coming from South American leagues, which aren't exactly as world renowned as the Premier League. So, if they should sign Bale, they will be getting a player that has shone on a league, as well as European level. Although they have strengthened, they haven't really got a well known winger of Bale's calibre. So, the question remains as to whether president Rinat Ahmetov has the funds to dwarf the fee being tabled by Madrid, but he has certainly attracted international stars and has Champions League football for which Bale craves.
