Without a doubt, the most eye-catching and outlandish of the players that Spurs have been linked with signing this summer is former Manchester City star Mario Balotelli. The controversial Italian striker currently plays for AC Milan in his homeland, but the San Siro club have reportedly given up on him, having run out of patience with his petulant antics. At 23 years old, Balotelli still has the world at his feet, but his behaviour both on and off the field continues to be a major cause for concern. That said, both Spurs and Arsenal are said to be interested in his signature, but at £30 million he could be a huge risk. He does have a fantastic scoring record wherever he plays - including at international level, where he has 12 goals in 29 appearances and, more importantly, in the Premier League - but the negatives often seem to outweigh the positives with Balotelli and a man of his character may well take offence at the thought of signing for a club who aren't in the Champions League.
