2. Toby Alderweireld

Another player that Spurs have already been linked with in the past and arguably the best defensive option potentially available to them this summer, given his similar pedigree to Vertonghen, is Toby Alderweireld. Alderweireld is a Belgian central defender who can also play at right back. Currently plying his trade at Atletico Madrid, the Spanish club signed him from Ajax where, coincidentally, he was formerly the defensive partner of Vertonghen. Alderweireld is also a fellow Belgian international who is physically very strong and very good at playing long balls forward. In essence, he's a cross between Vertonghen and fellow Spurs player Michael Dawson - but with more time on his side as he is only 25. He has struggled to really make a first team place his own at Atletico and was reportedly recently offered to Napoli. If they're that keen to get rid of him, Spurs should snap their hands off.
