Spurs Transfers: 5 Reasons They Must Add A New Striker In January

2. Spurs Have Had A Poor Conversion Rate This Season

I think it€™s fair to say that most teams that struggle to score goals find that difficulty in creating chances is a big reason behind that. However, that problem doesn€™t seem to be occurring at White Hart Lane this season, despite the poor goal return. Spurs tend to create 16.4 shots per game; a tally that is only bettered by the two best attacks this season of Liverpool and Man City. Obviously, there is always going to be a relationship between putting a shot on target and scoring a goal, so Spurs do drop down to sixth in the table on putting shots on target. Now in many ways this is a very good statistic for a prospective new striker as it shows that he is likely to have plenty of chances. It also perhaps shows that most parts of Spurs€™ game is working fairly well with the exception of sticking the ball in the back of the net. Assists have been hard to come by this season, but a new striker could turn all of that around if he can find the net on a regular basis. When you look through the attacking options, I€™m sure most fans would agree that adding a new striker is essential even if it€™s simply from the point of view of adding depth to the squad.
