Spurs Transfers: 5 Replacements For Christian Eriksen

5. Ibrahim Afellay

Afellay Spurs have long been linked with a move for Barcelona's Dutch international midfielder, most recently this year, and he would undoubtedly provide them with the same level of quality that Christian Eriksen offers the club. He provides that link between midfield and strikers and he has a goal or two in him as well. They would be even more likely to sign Afellay if, as has been touted, Louis van Gaal takes over as manager of the club - given that he is Dutch and Daniel Levy might push him to sign his fellow countryman and long-term target. The problem with Afellay is his injury record - he is very injury prone, has spent much of his time at Barcelona out injured or on the bench due to a lack of match fitness and, at 28 years old, it's debatable as to whether he capable of giving any club a full season. All that said, he is a very good player and one who could make a big impact in the Premier League for sure.
