4. Alex Song
With midfielder Scott Parker facing an uncertain future at White Hart Lane, with news that the England international
may even be flogged to relegated QPR, a vacancy appears to be opening up in the centre of Villas-Boas' midfield. One player who could fill it is Barcelona's out-of-favour Alex Song, who has endured a torrid debut season at the Nou Camp one year after leaving London rivals Arsenal. The Cameroonian looks certain to leave after being voted
worst signing of the season in Spain and a return to the Premier League could be on the cards. The 25-year old is unlikely to return to Arsenal having left the Gunners on bad terms and Villas-Boas wants the player to compete with Mousa Dembele and Sandro for a starting place in his engine room, which seems to put Parker well and truly out of the picture. Spurs have been short of decent central midfielders since losing Luka Modric to Real Madrid a year ago.
