2. Jay Rodriguez

Another player on this list that flourished under Pochettino at Southampton last season, Rodriguez was a revelation for the Saints, scoring 15 goals in the league forcing his way into the England squad, and making his debut against Chile at Wembley last November. He would have surely gone to Brazil had he not suffered an unfortunate knee injury at the Etihad at the back end of last season.

Despite this Rodriguez should come back from his injury and be back to his best, as long as he isn't rushed back too quickly, which might be a concern with Rickie Lambert now gone. Since the arrival of Pochettino, Southampton played a high pressing game that earned them many plaudits and success on the pitch, and it seems logical to assume that the manager will go for a similar approach at Spurs, necessitating his search for players who are already familiar with that style.

Rodriguez would not only give them another option up front but also an option out wide. Last season due to injury and the poor form of player like Erik Lamela and Aaron Lennon they had to play their most creative player, Christian Eriksen, out position on the left wing. Rodriguez would allow Eriksen to play in the number ten role where he can orchestrate the Spurs attack.
