This fixture occurred in last year's FA Cup and saw both teams battle for a place in the Final against Liverpool, which Chelsea would go on to win. I have included this match not only for its grandstand scoreline but for another reason - the impact on this year's Premier League with the introduction of goal line technology. The five-goal-haul for Chelsea would also set them up perfectly for the game against Barcelona (another trophy Chelsea would go on to win) but the match was marred due to a very controversial goal scored by Juan Mata. The Spaniard had a shot blocked on the goal-line by Ledley King and Beniot Assou-Ekotto, with the ball not crossing the line, however referee Martin Atkinson decided to reward a goal in Chelsea's favour, a decision which would prove to be wholly incorrect after video replays in the aftermath of the match. This goal left the score-line at 2-1 and Chelsea would go on to make it a romp with Atkinson apologising to Harry Redknapp after the game. It was decisions like this that have had an impact on the introduction of the goal line technology which we now see in this year's Premier League, but also this was a bloody good match!
