Great full backs are tough to come by at Sunderland, so this team is going to have to make do with three centre backs. And let's start with arguably the best of the lot. John Mensah was an unbelievable talent, and completely lived up to his Rock of Gibraltar title with some utterly dominant performances for Sunderland. He was a defensive general, and despite not being the tallest around, Mensah was muscle-clad from head to toe. Unfortunately injuries ravaged his career meaning he was never too far away from a crippling injury, but then again, a fully fit Mensah would never have joined Sunderland in the first place.
