Sunderland's Greatest Ever Premier League XI

3. DEF - Danny Rose

Sunderland's problematic left back spot hasn't been short of quality, it's just been short of longevity. Several top left backs have came and gone over the years, but Danny Rose was the best of a great bunch. The Spurs loanee looked like a panic signing after Kieran Richardson's departure. He arrived without a great deal of top flight experience and was mainly utilised as a winger at his parent club. Nobody expected him to feature regularly or with as much quality as he did. He was lightning quick and would always be scampering up and down the left hand side involved heavily in both attacking and defensive duties. He returned to Spurs with a bright future ahead, and pips Micky Gray and Marcos Alonso to the slot in this team.
