Part of the reason behind Jonny Evans' success is in the coolness he brought to a largely manic defence. It would've been easy for the youngster to lose his mind in between Paul McShane and Nyron Nosworthy, but somehow he instilled a genuine sense of 'yes, we can actually defend' into their minds at times. His first loan spell at the club saw Evans play a major part in lifting the Championship trophy with an impeccable defensive record, while his second stint saw Sunderland miraculously survive with a squad that now sends chills down the spine of every fan. If there's any chance to sign him permanently in the future, Sunderland should pounce.
