Julio Arca is one of Sunderland's greatest cult heroes, if not the ultimate one. While a certain little 'n' large strike partnership tore the league to pieces, Arca pulled the strings from the left side, whether he was deployed as a full back or winger. The Argentine could open his box of tricks at will, and entertained the crowd with his flair and skill while he also actually contributed to the team. His heart was in the right place too, staying with the club through relegation back into the top flight, before finally leaving upon a second relegation. Still, he remained in Sunderland while playing for Middlesbrough and has recently been taken on as a youth coach with Sunderland on his quest to become a manager one day.
