10 Most Ridiculously Over-Priced Flops In Premier League History

1. Fernando Torres - Chelsea (£50m)

What can you say about Fernando Torres? The once highly dangerous striker has now turned into the butt of all jokes when it comes to Premier League football. Now famed for outstanding misses and just having no luck in front of goal, it's quite the bizarre turn of events that the former Liverpool forward has seen his career fall down the toilet. For both first club Atletico Madrid and the Reds, Torres was considered one of the most lethal strikers in the world. He hit 81 goals for Liverpool in three-and-a-half seasons, but when Chelsea shocked the Premier League and paid a monumental £50 million for the Spaniard on January deadline day in 2011, the Blues were expected to be taken to the next level. But it really didn't work out - And it still hasn't. Torres took until the end of April 2011 to net his first Chelsea goal, and that ended up being his only moment of individual joy in a miserable first six months at Stamford Bridge. Since then sure, he's had his moments, but having lost about 3 yards of pace and a truckload of confidence, 'El Nino' is a shell of the player Chelsea paid a British transfer record for back then.
