10 Most Ridiculously Over-Priced Flops In Premier League History

2. Marouane Fellaini - Manchester United (£27.5m)

He could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, but as far as most Manchester United fans are concerned, it can't come soon enough. Marouane Fellaini was signed by Manchester United on transfer deadline day 2013 for £27.5 million. However, the Belgian was the only new face to arrive that summer, even after executive vice chairman Ed Woodward had previously promised there would be big name additions to the squad in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. Woodward even left United's pre season tour to attend to some 'urgent transfer business,' but surely it couldn't have been to negotiate the beginning stages of a deal for the former Everton man who ended up signing weeks later? Fellaini's arrival reeked of pressure and desperation. The Belgian isn't bad as a battering ram, but he has been castigated over the last year or so because many feel he doesn't have the necessary ability to fit in at Old Trafford. To compound his misery, Fellaini suffered niggling injuries which kept him out of action for a large chunk of the season and United ended up coming 7th in the Premier League in 2013/14 - their worst ever finish.
