Tottenham 1-1 Espanyol: 5 Key Things We Learned

4. Bale Really Is Still Injured?

We learnt, not during, but post and pre-match from Andre Villas-Boas that Gareth Bale is still on the treatment table, as the Spurs coach continued to refuse to be drawn in on all of the transfer speculation surrounding the Welshman. Villas-Boas said:
"The only thing I can say about the stories is I am not going to comment because everybody has speculated a lot. There are some different stories, some which are not true, with people inventing without knowledge of what is going on. "The only thing I can tell you is the player is under the treatment of the medical department for this pain in the foot which is disturbing him... Regarding the speculation, I don't want to extend myself further than I have told you."
So there you have it. The only (and I do stress only) official news regarding the Bale situation, given that Villas-Boas doesn't want to change what he's already told the press, is that Bale is genuinely injured and is still not for sale.
