Transfer Window: 5 Over-Used Cliches

1. €˜Close To Signing€™

Perhaps the most common cliché we hear on sports new channels and in the press is that a player is €˜close to signing€™ for another club. Occasionally these come true but the majority of the time they just exist to create a bit of publicity for a club or to sell a newspaper. It works well though, fans who believe it get genuinely excited about the prospect and no doubt spread the rumour more themselves, then they see that according to somewhere else he is close to signing for another club and feel a bit silly really. That completes my list of Five clichés I€™m sick of hearing in the Transfer window, any more suggestions€
