UFC: 10 Reasons Jon Jones Went From Good Guy To Bad Guy

2. Homophobic Instagram Hacker

Jon Jones Homophobic Instagram If you're a UFC champion with nearly half a million followers on Instagram, be careful who gets access to your phone. That's the lesson Jon Jones apparently had to learn in April 2014 when his official Instagram account began posting homophobic remarks to one of his followers who had questioned his heart against Alexander Gustafsson. Phrases such as "Homosexuality is a sin" and "Fag sh*t" and "Fag boys" were a few of the remarks posted from @jonnybones on the young Swede's account who had been showing support for Swedish fighter Gustafsson. Jones is a devout Christian and his father is a preacher, so it was not a far-stretch for UFC fans to believe it was Jones making these remarks. Jones' manager denied it was him who had made the comments, but rather that his phone was stolen and hacked. UFC President Dana White later stated Jones had purchased a new phone and the people at the store had something to do with it. Jones himself later said it was an overzealous person hired to help with his social media. Who knows what really happened, but all the negative publicity it generated certainly didn't help win the champ any new fans -- at least not the kind of fans you want.
