UFC: 10 Reasons Jon Jones Went From Good Guy To Bad Guy

3. Eye-Poking Dirty Fighter

http://youtu.be/x46wcSpE-AU Jon Jones has become notorious for poking his opponents in the eyes. He often uses an open-handed stance when fighting and likes to stick his lead hand out and into the face of his opponents. Jones has taken heat for eye-poking for years now, and after he did it once again during his April 2014 fight against Glover Teixeira, MMA legend and Inside MMA host Bas Rutten labeled Jones a "dirty fighter". Rutten said:
" a very calm, relaxed methodical fighter, and because he is that, I€™m sorry I have to say yes. That is a dirty fighter. Maybe he was looking down and pushing the fingers in the eye, maybe that happened, I didn€™t check that out. But he knows exactly what he€™s doing at any given time, and his fingers were definitely in for a long time. He was constantly rubbing them in the face."
Jones also uses other fighting techniques that some folks don't agree with, including side-kicking his opponent's knee in an attempt to hyper-extend it. There's no official rule against kicking at the knee, but in traditional martial arts people are taught to only do that for self defense in extreme cases.

I went to college in Las Vegas and have rode a skateboard most my life. Have a dog named Riley. I've also written about MMA daily since 2008. Find me on the Tweeter @PROMMA.
