UFC: 10 Reasons Jon Jones Went From Good Guy To Bad Guy

9. Stopped A Mugging

http://youtu.be/DFKvafh7Hbw If you ever contemplate mugging an old lady, make sure the number one pound-for-pound mixed martial arts fighter in the world isn't anywhere in your vicinity because Jon Jones might just do to you what he did to a robber in Patterson, N.J. right before the biggest fight of his life in March 2011. Just hours before Jones would climb inside the Octagon at UFC 128 in Newark to challenge the Mauricio "Shogun" Ruay for his light heavyweight world title, he and his coaches found a nearby spot to relax and meditate. As they're parking the car they witness an elderly woman being mugged and take off in pursuit of the attacker. The athletic Jones is able to catch up and subdue the mugger, and with the help of his coaches, hold him until police arrive. The elderly lady thanks Jones and tells him God will be with him in the Octagon that night. And guess what happened? Yes, Jones ended up finishing "Shogun" in the third round via technical knockout to win the title. It was a monumental moment. Not only did Jones claim the 205-pound throne to become the youngest UFC champion ever, he did a little crime fighting first! Is this the MMA version of Peter Parker? Who is this guy? It was literally the type of scenario you would read about in comic books, but no, this was new UFC champion Jon Jones and his popularity was skyrocketing. How could anyone not like this guy?

I still watch the whole series "The Sopranos" through at least a couple times a year. The first book I ever bought was on Astral Projection. I went to college in Las Vegas and have rode a skateboard most my life. Have a dog named Riley. I've also written about MMA daily since 2008. Find me on the Tweeter @PROMMA.
