UFC: The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale - 5 Things We Learned

3. Corey Anderson Looked Like Truck's Slightly Larger Twin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypsUpmTiMg8 Corey Anderson was like seeing the image of Eddie Gordan winning for a second time, in fighting style, anyway. The light heavyweight finale for Season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter played out in almost identical fashion to the middleweight bout, almost to the second. Corey Anderson, with only three pro fights (all wins) coming into the event, was a slight underdog against a more experienced opponent. If he was going to beat Matt van Buren, it was expected that he would have to rely on his strong wrestling. Anderson had other ideas. Instead of wrestling, Anderson came out strong on the feet and delivered a beating almost identical in style to TUF 19 middleweight winner Eddie "Truck" Gordan. It simply took him 10 seconds fewer to put van Bruen away. No one expected that, but it was likely in large part due to Anderson training closely with Frankie Edgar. It didn't help that Matt van Bruen underestimated him, saying he was "just" a wrestler - even if it's what we all thought. In the octagon after the match Anderson was very emotional, and talked about staying with Edgar's family rent free, training, and surprising all the folks who thought he would just "hump" someone in the ring. He still needs to drop the horrible "Beastin' 25/8" nickname though.
