West Brom 0-2 Newcastle: 7 Key Ways The Baggies Were Blunted
6. Paul Dummett In The Middle
Thanks to a hugely impressive performance at centre-half against Man City and another at left-back against Liverpool, young Geordie Paul Dummett's stock has risen dramatically recently. At the start of the season, in a poorly organised, under-confident team, he looked shaky at best, but he's proving now that he can be an asset. And even though he is versatile enough to play in both positions, his best is undoubtedly through the middle. Without having to mark the space behind him, and without the need to run back towards his own goal, Dummett looks a colossus despite his comparatively small frame. His ability to read the game, and block and intercept from that position is as good as his forward play is a little ropey (it's no surprise to learn he's trained to be a centre-half) and he played Saido Berahino out of the game. His commitment is also unquestionable, and without having to adapt his positional sense as much as he does out wide, he looks like a true prospect.
