The Hawthorns Ground Guide: 10 Things You Need To Know

9. It's Cozy

Once you're there, the away fans are housed on one side of the Smethwick End, where the normal allocation is 3,000 seats - though if it's a cup game, expect to have the entire end, or about 5200 seats. But because league games split the stand, expect to be close to the home fans. That - along with the Baggies' usually boisterous spirit - makes for a good atmosphere, as they don't like to be out-sung. A very friendly stadium, as long as you don't act the idiot. Facilities are okay, though they aren't troubling the newer stadiums by any means, and the view of the pitch is also okay, though leg room clearly comes at a premium, or not at all if you're over 6 foot.
