West Ham 1-3 Arsenal: Premier League Player Ratings

Arsenal

Wojciech Szczesny: Had to palm away Mark Noble's free kick early on. Later saved from Diame. Off his line smartly in first half stoppage time to deny Nolan, but hugely culpable after the break for Carlton Cole's goal. 4.5/10.

Bacary Sagna: Hammers saw Gunners right back as a weak link as Jarvis got in behind him lots early on. Grew into the game, however. 5.5/10.

Per Mertesacker: Giant German centre back barely put a foot wrong, but Carlton Cole knew he wouldn't be quick enough to react to Szczesny spilling the Nolan shot. 6/10.

Thomas Vermaelen: Dealt with crossing bombardment well early on. You still feel Laurent Koscielny will waltz straight back into the Arsenal defence. 6/10. Kieran Gibbs: Another solid attacking display up from left back. 6/10. Aaron Ramsey: Put in a lovely chipped through-ball for Walcott at 0-0 on 25 minutes. Limped off with thigh problem midway through second half. If he's hurt badly, Ramsey will be a major miss for the Gunners. 6/10. Mikel Arteta: Long range effort dipped just wide late first half. Involved in a congested midfield battle. The match was won and lost with the wide players. 5.5/10. Click next for more Arsenal player ratings.
