West Ham: 10 Reasons Andy Carroll Has Been A Waste Of Money

5. He Is Paid Far Too Much

For someone whose goal scoring record, overall performance level and number of games played, you would not expect Andy Carroll to be making much more than £40,000 per week from his club. However, Carroll is paid like he is a top star as West Ham are currently paying the Gateshead born forward a cool £80,000 per week, the same wage he was reportedly on at Liverpool. Although, it was reported that he wanted £100,000 per week from West Ham when he made his move to East London from Merseyside but co-owner David Sullivan would not budge on the £80,000 offer to him. Even so, with his exploits thus far at West Ham, it is difficult for anyone to imagine he is worth his weekly wage, particularly when a smaller club like West Ham can't afford to use that kind of money on someone who is not playing or able to justify his wages with goals and performances on the pitch.
