Women's FIFA World Cup: 10 Players To Look Out For

3. Marta (Brazil)

Every Brazilian team, male or female, is blessed with at least one attacking great. Marta is the undeniable star of Selecao€™s 2015 Women€™s World Cup squad. The 29-year-old has placed in the top three shortlist for World Player of the Year in each of the past 11 years, winning the award five years running between 2006 and 2010. A long list of achievements in the club game are supplemented by her status as the international team€™s most regular scorer and she€™ll be raring to go in what could be the last World Cup before her powers start to fade. A return of 14 goals sees Marta sit alongside Germany veteran Birgit Prinz as the top scorer in Women€™s World Cup history. We wouldn€™t want to bet against her becoming the sole leader this summer. Brazil are genuine contenders for the tournament and we can expect to see a lot of their mercurial No.10 this summer. Can she lead the Selecao to a first ever title? After the humiliation of the male side€™s home World Cup last summer, which Marta was an official ambassador of, it would certainly be a welcome triumph in her homeland.
