World Cup 2014: 5 Reasons Why It Should Stay In Brazil

4. Brazil is a proper footballing country

Obviously, this is a difficult point to make without insulting other countries too much, but football fans will know what I mean. Certain countries should be on top of the list when it comes to consideration for hosting these big events. This particular event is football related and it's the biggest event in the game that we love. For anyone that is in any doubt about the size of the audience for this event should note that the World Cup in South Africa (2010) was said to have reached 3.2 billion people via TV, which is roughly half the population of the world. England might be the birthplace of this great game that so many of us love, but Brazil is the country most of us think about when we talk about it. Purely and simply it is just one of those countries where football is part of the cultural. This goes right back to the kids that can be seen playing on the streets at a very young age. Sport is a great leveller for people from various different backgrounds to come together to play without judgement. It becomes about how well you play rather than what you have. Brazil has very rich and very poor parts which can sometimes be very close together, so it's a perfect host in my mind to remind us of that.
