World Cup 2014: 5 Reasons Why It Should Stay In Brazil
3. A Host That Can Actually Win This Thing
I don't know about you, but I find it more than a little annoying to have a host where we aren't sure if they will get out of the group. This was certainly the case with South Africa in 2010 and again those questions will be raised of Qatar in 2022. As previously mentioned Brazil is a proper footballing country and will be amongst the favourites to win the event in front of their own fans. The Brazilians are currently ranked 10th in the world which is clearly a false position given their previous success and the quality they have to call on. The Samba Boys are the most successful side in World Cup history after winning the event a total of five times. However, they haven't been able to dominate in recent years as much as they would have liked, they last won in 2002, but Italy and Spain have won the World Cup in recent years. The quality that Brazil have to choose from though means they should never be ruled out, a bit like how we feel with Germany as English football fans.
