World Cup 2014: 8 Players Who Can Win It For Their Country

8. Franck Ribery (France)

Current Odds: 25/1

At 25/1, France are seen as a distant long shot by the bookmakers and rightfully so. Barely scraping through the play-offs after overturning a 2-0 deficit against Ukraine in November, France's squad lacks a surprising amount of quality in defence and in midfield.

As such, if France are to make any decent challenge towards lifting the melon and custard, they're going to a need a star-turn performance from their star-turn player: Franck Ribery, 'officially' the 3rd best player in the world.

Ribery has had an indifferent season at Bayern Munich, helping them, along with the other members of that talent-loaded team, towards the Bundesliga title in record time. Whilst not as prominent as during their treble winning season last year, Ribery, at 31 years of age, looks set for his last big opportunity to shine on a major stage before his career begins to wind down and with the relative lack of experience, guile and overall quality alongside him in the French midriff, they are going to need him to have exactly that.
