19 Things We Learned From Steve McClaren's BBC Radio Newcastle Interview
3. McClaren Inadvertently Gave His Game Plan For The Southampton Game Away
"We moved (Georginio) Wijnaldum back with Jack Colback, brought Siem de Jong on, put Ayoze Perez on the left-wing and (Aleksandar) Mitrovic as well. We became a little bit more attacking and it was good to see that kind of a Plan B, one plan to get a foot hold in the game and the other for when we need a goal and to open things up a bit."
Sounds very like Alan Pardew's damage-limitation approach... So we can only surmise from that, in attacking areas at least, that Newcastle will go with what they started against Borusia Monchengladbach, with Moussa Sissoko, Gabriel Obertan, Wijnaldum and Papiss Cisse at the top end of the field.
