20 Things You Somehow Missed In Andor
15. Maarva's Rousing Farewell Speech Initially Featured Unexpectedly Colourful Language
Beautifully played by Fiona Shaw, Maarva Andor was the embodiment of fiery determination in the face of insurmountable odds. This was seen in her relationship with and impact in the lives of her adopted son, the people of Ferrix and especially the Daughters of Ferrix group, which she spent a significant amount of her final years supporting.
Her goodbye speech during the events of the first season finale was appropriately stirring, and even inspired revolutionary sentiment and action amongst the embattled citizens of the scrap metal planet. Her final line, "Fight the Empire", was originally meant to be far more crude, as it was intended to mark the first F-bomb in Star Wars history.
The season finale's director, Benjamin Caron, told Variety that he and the creative team (Tony Gilroy included) wanted the Ferrix matriarch to utter the expletive as she closed her call to action but Disney was not willing to give Andor that amusingly dubious franchise milestone.
