10 Huge Revelations You Missed From Star Trek: Prodigy

1. Sing Us A Soong

From the off, Dal's origins were one of the main questions of the series, with breadcrumbs teased from week to week. The biggest arrives in Asylum.

Linking Prodigy forever into canon, it turns out that Dal is an experiment, the work of the protegees of Arik Soong. Fans of Enterprise will immediately recognise the name as the Soong played by Brent Spiner its fourth season.

While Dal's base DNA is likely human there are 25 further distinct races from the Federation within his genetic makeup. There's some Proto-Organian in there, a touch of Klingon, and even some Vulcan. But what else? Note that it's been said he has 26 distinctions from within the Federation meaning that there could be some from outside it too. In fact, on closer inspection of the graphics from Crossroads, Dal may be part Q, Species 8472, and more.

There's also one more significant factor - Augments are forbidden from serving in Starfleet and while Vice-Admiral Janeway might have sway in the matter, it's going to come up again.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
