10 Reasons To Greenlight Star Trek: Legacy NOW

9. What About The Klingons?

Discovery certainly brought them back (for better or worse) and Klingons have passed by in Lower Decks but in terms of the late 24th Century fans have only, to date, seen the return of the legend that is Worf.

Picard seemed to swerve past the Empire, choosing to focus on the Romulans for season 1 and the Borg for its whole duration. Conspicuous by their very absence, the Klingon Empire has been a huge part of Star Trek lore since 1966 and omitting them from this locale feels wrong in every way.

Fans will be wondering what happened to Chancellor Martok. What does the Klingon Empire look like following the Romulan supernova and the end of the Dominion War. Fans don't know how the it has evolved and adapted to the galactic changes and their absence needs to be properly addressed.

As with many of the entries here, Legacy needs to happen because of the passage of time and, sad to say, actors like JG Hertzler and Tony Todd are not getting any younger. As with the crew of the Enterprise, Legacy offers a path to hand the torch to a new generation of characters to take the franchise forward with that interaction of the past.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
