10 Star Trek Toys That Sucked

1. The Starship Is Landing

Though there are several runners for the worst tie-in merchandise on this list, the ill-advised The Starship Is Landing craze from 2022 certainly clinches it for this author.

Perhaps including it here on a list of the toys that sucked might seem a stretch, but think about it. Who came up with this? Who approved it? Who sent the designs off to production?

The outcry with swift, with the nonsensical nature of the line being called out by irate fans. Clearly, no one with an ounce of Trek knowledge was a part of this idea. How could they be, as anyone who had watched a second of the series would know that this, well, had nothing to do with Star Trek.

Why, then, are we singling this one out when the very nature of the early years of Star Trek were marked with as much knock-off or oddly labelled toys as could be sold? Well, this was marketed, released, and sold by the official StarTrek.com store. And it's still available.

By all means, pick up some Landing merch. One never knows - it could become the Spock's Helmet of the 2050s!
